When the self realization that GAS had got the better of me it was time to pare down the collection.EBay,Gumtree and the local 'Fit Like'Express newspaper. My intentions were to hold onto my Martin 00016sgt and I had the notion I needed an ES styled Axe.Just the two one acoustic one electric. So I purchased a Hofner Verythin 3 it has three single coils, Strat like on a semi body.It was due to arrive when I got back from the oil rigs and to coincide with my Birthday. While on the rig I was watching Leo Fenders Telecaster the Original Twang DVD(pure tele porn!)All the usual suspects, all Fender, all telling you how great Tele's are.An unknown player to me was playing an unknown guitar on the DVD,totally out of place with the Fender thing,it was Chantel McGregor playing a Fret-King Tele. The tone and looks were unbelievable and Chantel stood out amongst the other players, talented beyond belief. I was on Google and You Tube right away Fret-Kinging.I absolutely loved the concept that Trev has realized. Not just a maker of guitars but a maker of players guitars. When I seen the Super S with its contouring the Strat and Tele pickups it was a no brainer. If ever anyone was confused as to which style to get they are both here on one guitar. I bought it and canceled the other before it arrived. The Super S had'nt even arrived and I decided it would suit my tastes with Gold Hardware.I contacted JHS with the inquiry and pretty much what I have written above. I explained I had terrible GAS and was easy excitable.I received an Email instantly from Dennis Drum ,Director of JHS.Telling me he will sort it out right away and would get back to me. Can you believe my joy of joys when I received a congratulations on my purchase and birthday wishes from Chantel McGregor!!!!!I am playing Aberdeen on the Friday why don't you come along we will have a chat and you can hear the Super S live....It took a nono second to think about that one, just slightly quicker than Trevs auto tuning bridge! Dennis got me to contact Kate Wilkinson,I did,she got back to me right away as well. There was a slight problem Fret-king does not do the control plate in gold.I contemplated and decided I would get my bling from a Vantique Scratch Plate so called Kate the next day, she's out for lunch, can I help?the voice was instantly recognizable it was Trev Wilkinson himself. He was aware of Dave fae Aberdeen and we had a chat. Its not like me but I was struggling for words. So down to earth with no Heirs or Graces. It was decided that I would get the Guard only. I was waiting for the delivery man,amp on and warming up,it arrived.Kid in sweetie shop comes to mind.Plugged in and ....well....simply sublime.Build quality faultless, sunburst and finish faultless, neck is super fast with no skunk strip I prefer it that way.Rosewood is beautiful, frets flawless.Neck pick up warm, bridge pick up pure Tele. From the moment the brain light bulb flashed on ,seeing Chantel on the TV to meeting her,the fantastic response and ethos of all involved with Fret-King, to receiving the best guitar I have ever owned the trip has been mind-blowing.My Super S now has instant Mojo and has(for the first time ever)been given a name....Chantel. If you have not yet seen Chantel its a must she is only going in one direction and that is upwards on onwards. The flag is flying Fret-King in Aberdeen. To all at Fret-King thank you so much. A much contented and truly satisfied customer. Dave Ritchie
