Esprit case bother

Hi

I have a blue label Esprit 5, which would be my first choice gigging guitar if only I could get a fitted robust case for touring purposes.

I've contacted various Fret King dealers plus Fret King & Hiscox direct and everything points to the cost being £100 - £150 AAAAAAGGGHHH!

I recently purchased an explorer case for £40 but there's just too much room for movement when in the back of our van so looks like I'll have to use the Les Paul for our up and coming tour.

Can anyone help or advise on a more cost effective option as I'd love to take the esprit. I've used it in the studio and at 2 local gigs and it sounded and played awesome and I got loads of comments on it's cool looks, I also used it on our debut single & video shoot, it's just so irritating that you can buy high quality protective cases for your Les paul & Strat for around £50 but these babys will cost you a lung and a kidney.

Supermatic

Hello to all. I am a new owner of the Supermatic sunburst. The tunings are extremely accurate. The workmanship is exceptional and hardware top notch. One exception I found was the 5 position switch which could have been a little better. I am for the most part very pleased with my new instrument. The strings indeed were too light for my style so went to 10 gauge which the ATD accepted perfectly. Installing was a bit more complicated than standard but next time will be a breeze. The pickups wail! Learning the ATD was a gradual process but works very well. Its so great to switch to the alternate tunings so quickly! I am having the frets changed to lower profiles to help with finger pressure tuning issues. Dressing them was not an option as the technician said they are the largest hes ever seen and would take more effort and correction than just replacement. To address intonation an "Earvana" nut will be installed to perfect chordal note accuracy throughout the fingerboard. Adding a string tree to the "g" to help with a slight buzz at the nut. By the time she is done in the next few weeks it should be amazing to play. Will keep you posted.
Marco

Hello,

Wanted to let you know that I love my new Super-Matic. It was a bit fussy for me at first switching between tunings, but I discovered a trick that I have not seen discussed anywhere. Rather than strumming the guitar at the standard position over the pickups, I strum it once firmly at the 12th fret. The guitar will then tune perfectly to any of the tuning choices without an additional strum.

I suspect that the strings oscillate better/longer with a strum at the 12th fret position??

This guitar is the perfect choice for me as I use Drop D, Standard, and Open G tunings. When performing live I used to have to play several songs in a row in each of these tunings to avoid torturing the audience with frequent tune-ups. Now I can play my tunes in any order and avoid the monotony of too many songs in the same key. Furthermore, I can focus on my vocals and cease worrying about whether my guitar is in tune.

Thanks Trev!

Country Squire Super S Vintage Burst

When the self realization that GAS had got the better of me it was time to pare down the collection.EBay,Gumtree and the local 'Fit Like'Express newspaper. My intentions were to hold onto my Martin 00016sgt and I had the notion I needed an ES styled Axe.Just the two one acoustic one electric.
So I purchased a Hofner Verythin 3 it has three single coils, Strat like on a semi body.It was due to arrive when I got back from the oil rigs and to coincide with my Birthday. While on the rig I was watching Leo Fenders Telecaster the Original Twang DVD(pure tele porn!)All the usual suspects, all Fender, all telling you how great Tele's are.An unknown player to me was playing an unknown guitar on the DVD,totally out of place with the Fender thing,it was Chantel McGregor playing a Fret-King Tele. The tone and looks were unbelievable and Chantel stood out amongst the other players, talented beyond belief.
I was on Google and You Tube right away Fret-Kinging.I absolutely loved the concept that Trev has realized. Not just a maker of guitars but a maker of players guitars. When I seen the Super S with its contouring the Strat and Tele pickups it was a no brainer. If ever anyone was confused as to which style to get they are both here on one guitar.
I bought it and canceled the other before it arrived. The Super S had'nt even arrived and I decided it would suit my tastes with Gold Hardware.I contacted JHS with the inquiry and pretty much what I have written above. I explained I had terrible GAS and was easy excitable.I received an Email instantly from Dennis Drum ,Director of JHS.Telling me he will sort it out right away and would get back to me.
Can you believe my joy of joys when I received a congratulations on my purchase and birthday wishes from Chantel McGregor!!!!!I am playing Aberdeen on the Friday why don't you come along we will have a chat and you can hear the Super S live....It took a nono second to think about that one, just slightly quicker than Trevs auto tuning bridge!
Dennis got me to contact Kate Wilkinson,I did,she got back to me right away as well. There was a slight problem Fret-king does not do the control plate in gold.I contemplated and decided I would get my bling from a Vantique Scratch Plate so called Kate the next day, she's out for lunch, can I help?the voice was instantly recognizable it was Trev Wilkinson himself. He was aware of Dave fae Aberdeen and we had a chat. Its not like me but I was struggling for words. So down to earth with no Heirs or Graces. It was decided that I would get the Guard only.
I was waiting for the delivery man,amp on and warming up,it arrived.Kid in sweetie shop comes to mind.Plugged in and ....well....simply sublime.Build quality faultless, sunburst and finish faultless, neck is super fast with no skunk strip I prefer it that way.Rosewood is beautiful, frets flawless.Neck pick up warm, bridge pick up pure Tele.
From the moment the brain light bulb flashed on ,seeing Chantel on the TV to meeting her,the fantastic response and ethos of all involved with Fret-King, to receiving the best guitar I have ever owned the trip has been mind-blowing.My Super S now has instant Mojo and has(for the first time ever)been given a name....Chantel.
If you have not yet seen Chantel its a must she is only going in one direction and that is upwards on onwards.
The flag is flying Fret-King in Aberdeen.
To all at Fret-King thank you so much.
A much contented and truly satisfied customer.
Dave Ritchie

NGD - Fret King Corona SP90, Green Label

Greetings all ... Kevin here from the US, New Jersey specifically, just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, PA.

I just received my new (used) Fret-King Green Label Corona SP 90 yesterday and am very pleased with it so far. I'd be much more pleased if the previous owner hadn't put a strap knob on the lower horn but that should be easily repairable since the guitar is nitro.

Here's a pic of my new beauty, she's a 2004 and, according to Dennis, was personally built by Trev:

Here's my take after a couple hours of play time:

1. Neck - beautiful! I love the feel of the '60s C radius and the Gotoh locking tuners are a nice touch. This feels better than any Corona-made F neck I have played. The only neck I've liked more was an MIJ '62 RI neck (MIJ Fenders rule).

2. Pickups - the neck and middle are SPANKY as hell but not overpowering. Very Texas Specials but cleaner and clearer. The P90 is ok, but I'm biased 'cause I have a '77 LP Special with original P90s and an SG with Wolfetone P90s. Don't get me wrong, the bridge pickup is about as good as you're gonna get out of an Alder-based guitar. I had a set of Vintage Vibe SP90s in one of my old strats (single coil sized P90s) and they cannot touch this.

3. Finish - nitro rules. I've built and finished several custom teles and strats in nitro and I just love the way it feels and wears. (see reranch.com/reranch). My "Laguna Blue" has actually yellowed a bit. Under the pickguard it looks like Sonic Blue and the exposed areas are almost seafoam green now.

4. VSV ... what can I say? The VSV is one damn nice system! I'm thinking of putting one on another one of my strats to replace the American Standard vintage tremolo.

Overall, this is a beautiful guitar and I got it USED!!!!! For the price I paid ($1200 USD) I would take this over a NEW Fender American at the same price any day of the week.
